How does that go? "Neither rain nor snow" - not even a foot of snow kept some people from coming out Saturday night for the Sherman County Development's Annual Mtg.
About 40 people enjoyed the warm cozy atmosphere of the Imagination Station as they consumed ribs and brisket prepared by Texas Brand BBQ (Cindy & Lem Russell) and admired table decorations by Acquisitions.
No speaker would dare come this direction with the promise of more bad weather but Kathy Allen and the SCDC Board did not let that stop them. Scribbles Designs (Lisa & Duane Mungia) put together a presentation of projects SCDC has worked on the past year. There were scenes of the old Duckwalls store and photos of the grand opening of the new Long's Ben Franklin Store. Pictures of the site where Panda will build their 100-million gallon ethanol plant and a webcam shot of the Hereford plant already under construction; just to give everyone an idea what to expect in Sherman County. There were photos of the Consumers building sometime between 1927-29, and then a bittersweet moment showing the out-of-date facility being demolished in order for a new hotel to be built in the near future.
A short business meeting was held in order for the membership to approve the 2007 budget and the nomination of Jo Hinds as the 9th Member of the SCDC Board. It was a nice evening, weather and all.
